QUALITY

SME has successfully implemented quality assurance processes and policies. This helps to ensure that quality systems and solutions are provided to our clients. Milestones and checkpoints are put in place to ensure quality form procured components to in-house manufactured items.

THE SME QUALITY ASSURANCE PROCESS

The SME quality Assurance Process aims to ensure continuous quality throughout the delivery of systems and is done by implementing the following Quality Assurance Mile-stones during the procurement, manufacturing and assembly process.

TESTING AND EVALUATION

Testing and evaluation is an integral process to ensure a quality solution is provided. It is of utmost importance to evaluate not only the final assembled product but also each phase during the manufacturing and assembly process of each component.
 
The following (commonly used) system hierarchy levels are applicable:
 
Level 1 - Material level
Level 2 - Component level
Level 3 - Product Subsystem level
Level 4 - Product Level (If required)
 

 

ELECTRICAL QUALIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE TEST

All electrical components, harnesses and final assemblies are tested and supplied with an electrical wiring conformation sheet(s) that in general include:

  1. Assembly Verification according to Data Pack
  2. Pin-to-Pin connections between connectors.
Assembly Verification

All manufactured harnesses include a build history sheet with a final assembly confirmation sheet. This forms part of the Factory Acceptance Testing documentation and includes:

  • Date of QA Inspection
  • QA Responsible
  • Confirmation of Materials Used as per Data Pack
  • Conformation of Connectors with Connector Index Clock as per data pack
  • Final Assembled Harness Lengths – and comparison to supplied drawings
Pin-to-Pin Connections

All harnesses are meggered. This ensures the insulations integrity between different pins. This is required to ensure reliability of supplied harnesses and is therefore a critical part of the harness final assembly testing procedure.
